Café Monarch
According to Yelp.com, Scottsdale's top restaurant is Café Monarch on East First Avenue. This restaurant serves up American fare with an international twist. Everything at Café Monarch is prepared with organic, all-natural ingredients and the menu constantly shifts based on the freshness and availability of ingredients and the whims of chef and owner, Chef Christopher. Café Monarch is a quaint and small café with a small exposed kitchen and a charming dining room. The experience is definitely unique, with Christopher running a one-man show where he greets diners, preps, cooks the meal and even handles his own washing. He has one assistant that helps deliver the food. The best way to experience Café Monarch is the three-course dinner that Chef Christopher personally crafts. Café Monarch lets diners bring their own beverages; the corking fee is $10 per bottle of wine and $1 for bottles of beer.

Casella's Italian Delicatessen
Casella's Italian Delicatessen on North Granite Reef Road is the second best dining location in Scottsdale according to Yelp.com. This eatery, which is tucked into an unassuming strip mall, is a family run affair. The menu is classical Italian with a variety of large, stuffed Italian subs stealing the show. These sandwiches are served on one of the best rolls in the world; it is crusty without being too bready or hard. Then it is stuffed with flavorful Italian ingredients that are all cooked on the spot. Go for the Italian beef or the Italian hoagie. In addition to the sandwiches, Casella's serves traditional pasta dishes, cheesesteaks and authentic desserts-make sure to save room for a cannoli!

Basilico Italian Restaurant
The family run, award winning Basilico Italian Restaurant on East Via Linda in Scottsdale received four stars from Yelp.com. All fare at Basilico's is served family style, so bring a group and your appetite! Basilico opened in 2004 and is owned and operated by Rosa and Domenick, who were both born in Sicily. All dishes are prepared by hand and everything is handmade from the pasta to the sauces. The menu is brimming with every Italian specialty you can imagine from gnocchi to veal osso bucco. Stuffed mushrooms, wild caught and daily cut fresh fish, thin crust pizza and mussels served in a red sauce are all memorable but it is the veal parmesan that is the real showstopper.

Vermont Sandwich Company
Upon the first mouthwatering bite into a Vermont Sandwich Company sandwich, it is undeniable that everything is made from scratch, even the mayonnaise, salad dressings and mustards. The bread at this Scottsdale restaurant is baked at a local bakery and the beef and chicken is prepared by hand in house. Few places can claim to maple their own turkey, but that is what you can expect at the Vermont Sandwich Company. The top sandwiches at this Scottsdale restaurant are those with unique flavor combinations such as the Honey Ham and Maple Turkey sandwich served with a cranberry mayonnaise, granny smith apples and cheddar cheese. Two Vermont natives brought their passion for fresh, high quality food to Scottsdale and opened Vermont Sandwich Company. In 1995, ownership changed but the food has only improved. This eatery has a bit of a 'hippie' vibe, with a laid back atmosphere and excessively loyal patrons.
